Čuvajmo šume: Protecting Bosnia’s Forests with Technology

A digital platform empowering citizens to report illegal logging

Project overview

We partner closely with founders and product teams to define the problem, align on KPIs, and design the solution users actually need. Below is a quick summary of scope and outcomes.

Illegal logging is one of the biggest environmental threats in Bosnia and Herzegovina. To address this, we built Čuvajmo šume (“Let’s Protect the Forests”), a web and mobile application that enables citizens to quickly and transparently report suspicious activities, helping authorities and NGOs respond faster.

The platform increases accountability and awareness, giving everyday people a direct way to participate in protecting natural resources.

Challenge
The client needed a simple, trustworthy tool that citizens across the country could use without barriers—whether urban or rural, tech-savvy or not. Reports had to be geolocated, secure, and easily triaged by forest protection organizations.

Our Approach

  • Human-centered design: workshops with activists and citizens to ensure usability.
  • Cross-platform development: lightweight mobile app plus responsive web.
  • Reporting flow: fast geo-tagging, photo uploads, and categorized complaints.
  • Back-office dashboard: for NGOs to review, track, and escalate reports.

Result
The platform is now a direct citizen-to-institution channel, making it harder for illegal logging to go unnoticed. It empowered communities to protect their forests and demonstrated how digital solutions can amplify sustainability efforts.
