The brief

Football needed its own social network — not a generic feed with football posts.

Austrian startup WAF GmbH wanted to build the dedicated digital home for football: players, fans, and clubs all in one app, with real-time match coverage built in.

The ask wasn't a clone of Instagram for football. It was a product designed around how players want to engage with fans, how clubs want to build and monetise digital presence, and how fans want localised news, transfer rumours, and live match coverage — without all three audiences stepping on each other.

The approach

Cross-platform iOS and Android, with three distinct user flows in one product.

Designed dedicated journeys per audience: players build personal profiles and interact with supporters; fans follow clubs and players with personalised, localised feeds; clubs manage official pages with built-in monetisation tools.

A community-driven Live Ticker lets authorised contributors cover matches in real time, extending coverage beyond just professional leagues. Shipped through App Store and Google Play with iterative releases over 2021–2022.
